I am so excited! I really am going to China. I was sure something would fall through but it looks like for once things are going as planned. I am now trying to gather the funds so that my travels will be easier on me. While in China I will need to eat and oh boy do I want to eat there. I keep thinking of all the authentic food I will be able to enjoy there. Hopefully I will come back with some souvenirs too. Thank you everyone who has supported me and continue to support me on this journey.
So as of yesterday I paid my $1650 plane ticket to China and back. Now today after I take two more exams at the college I will be heading to FedEx to send all my visa information in to be approved. I am on the ball! I can't believe how fast this is going. I still need help in raising money. Paying for the trip is a lot but I also need extra money for meals and other such things when I am over in China.
Today I received my passport. I have filled out my visa information. Now all I have to do is buy the plane ticket and send the itinerary with my visa application. Once this is done I am that much closer to going to China! This is really exciting and I want to thank everyone for all the support they are giving me.
So far I have been doing well. Today I paid my second payment of $2195 towards my trip. This is great! I was gifted with $3000 by my friend Sam who really wants me to go to China to expand my horizons. This has helped so much but it is not the end of the road yet. We are still in the process of fundraising and such so that I can make this dream come true. I am waiting on my passport to arrive so that I may finally apply for my visa to enter China. It is a long process of waiting but I know I can make this happen. Thank you again to all my lovely donators.
So yesterday I did get all of my passport information sent out and paid for. Now I must wait 4-6 weeks for it to come in. I hate waiting but it must be done. Now I must focus on the fundraising part of my journey. I really hope people understand how important this program is to me and how badly I wish to attend it.
So this blog will be documenting not only my progress to my journey to china but also my day to day life. I will tell you about myself, my life and anything that is random and hopefully entertaining. Who knows. I might continue blogging after this too, we can only wait and see.
Today is Monday and I am at my college's cafeteria where I visit with my friends. (Though right now I am on here typing this up). Anyways. On Mondays I head the Caring Through Crafting Club as the president. We knit and crochet as well as many other different crafts as well. I have been studying all weekend. I have midterms coming up and there are two tests that really are taking a lot of energy to study for. My American Government and my American History classes. They are great subjects just a lot of facts to remember in such a short time. I am determined to keep my great GPA though. Hello friends,
I am starting this blog to document my challenging journey to raise money and take a journey to China through a program called the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation. The program starts on June 2nd and will last for two weeks, ending on June 15th. I received an email a few days ago announcing my acceptance into the program. Usually I dismiss these kinds of opportunities for lack of funds. This time, like the others had been, is a once in a lifetime opportunity I just cannot let slide by. With the support of my friends and family, I am making the effort to raise the funds to go to China. So what have I done so far? I have spoken to friends and family for help in raising money and awareness of my GoFundMe fundraiser that I have set up. I have briefly spoken to my spiritual center, where I teach young children, which has expressed interest in this opportunity for me. I will discuss the details more in the following week with them. What do I still have to do? A lot! Seriously. Okay so first on the list, a passport. I haven't had one before so I have to find the time to get my picture taken and apply for my passport. This really needs to be done this week! I need to find out more about applying for a visa since I will need that to enter China, not just the airport. What am I doing now? Studying. With all the fundraising and acquiring the items I need for this trip, I am also in the midst of my sophomore year at Indian River State College, working towards my A.A. in Secondary Education. This means with all the work I do now I will be doing even more. I have midterms and homework along with fundraising and getting the word out there. Is there anything you can do to help me? Yes! *If you can financially help, that is great! $1, $5, $10 or more. Whatever you can afford to help means a great deal for me on this journey. Every dollar counts. *If you can't financially help, there is still something you can do. Share this blog, share my GoFundMe campaign, tell people about this. Help me get the word out there. *Moral support is always welcome too. Please, send me encouraging words of wisdom, keep up with my posts and just keep me in your prayers and good thoughts. I understand this will be a long and hard journey for me but I am willing to work for it. In future posts I will discuss more about my life and why this opportunity means so much to me. So this is all for now. Please take care. 再见 Zàijiàn ~Charlotte~ |
